The Scissor-tailed Flycatcher

This is probably my favorite "field" bird...  With its unusually long tail, they're easy to spot - especially when in flight. My southwest Missouri property is just on the edge of its summer range, but their numbers are plenty along the farm roads by my property. Someday I'll get a perfectly focused in-flight photo, but with their fast moving wings and tail - it might be a while!

  1. GREAT in flight image if you want my opinion!! The ones I've spotted and photographed are always perched on power lines showing none of their beautiful colors! Yours is super.

    I remember seeing one in Texas many years ago perched on a wire and never got to see those glorious colours shown in your flight shot ... so thanks very much for that view.
